Why We Measure Fuel Differently

Most existing solutions on the market base their fuel usage information on mileage and statistics. Fuel statistics tend to be distorted, often affected by elements of topography, car movement, and changes of the positioning of the fuel tank. GalooliOTO’s algorithm takes these factors into account and eliminates these background variables to produce an accurate fuel reading.

How information is retrieved

Our K2G2 telematics unit can implement several methods of obtaining fuel level data. The preferred method is determined based on availability, cost-effectiveness and level of accuracy required.

The Fuel Sender Method
By connecting to the vehicle’s fuel gauge or to the vehicle’s electronic system, the fuel sender provides an analog reading that changes according to the fuel level in the tank.

Designated capacitive/pressure sensor
An external fuel sensor is mounted in the tank and connected to the K2G2 unit via digital communication. The sensor provides exceptional resolution and fuel level reading accuracy.

Vehicle Engine Computer (ECU)
The K2G2 unit communicates with the engine computer via several types of protocols (OBDII, CANBUS, etc.) The engine computer translates the fuel level sender data to fuel tank capacity percentages.

Fuel Theft Prevention
The system instantly detects fuel drops and anomalies in the tank’s fuel levels and sends alerts via SMS/Email to the operator
